In the busy world around us, having a moment to think our own  thoughts some times comes dearly. When I had a husband and kids around, the only time that was mine seemed to be after everyone else had finally gone to sleep. Or occasionally I would set my personal internal clock and get up, make the coffee and take that very few minutes as my very own, taking a long deep breath and declaring to myself, “It’s going to be alright.”

Long after that I learned to work with energy and intention to create more of what really was all right and did not have to be continually declared to be so. Learning to work with energy is a great way to enhance whatever you prefer for your life, health, wealth or wisdom. To facilitate that, if you are not familiar with the process, read some of the following and let yourself go into a calmer, more productive state of mind. We will be using some of the meditations based on the Silva Techniques and later move into the more spiritual based ideas.  There are several meditations in the From Fear to Eternity book as well.  If they seem simplistic, they were what was needed at the time. If you are not yet familiar with these ideas, let yourself explore. You will meet a wiser, gentler version of yourself each time you center yourself and talk to the part of you that is your Divine Self, there with the desire and intention of being of service to you in creating a life of peace and jo.

Please feel free to copy and use the following. We will be offering a new meditation every week.

MEDITATIONS  - WHY AND HOW

Everybody says meditate—but why?  What’s that going to do for me?

Because life isn’t always grand, and if it’s not, then it means you are disconnected from your power source. Not really, but even though God is always part of you, if you don’t consciously intend the connection, it can feel like you are alone. All the mumbo-jumbo in your head about how terrible everything is and how unfair it all seems is just your ego trying to give you some sense of identity. (Unfortunately the ego is the most disconnected part and never gives you the real truth.) So meditation is just your decision to get “the rest of the story.”  You can reconnect with the peace of your Greater Self, just by making the decision to do so and devoting a few minutes to be sure you are linked up. (On a purely physical level, it partly means that you are intentionally switching from one part of the brain to another to process your situation.)

So how do I start?

A quiet place is good. if you can find it. Yes, sometime you may have to hide out in the bathroom!
Take a few deep breaths! Shut your eyes and imagine you are looking at something still and beautiful.  A flame, a flower, a stream, whatever seems neutral, even your baby’s eyes... Within you somewhere is a spark of love. It may be even the tiny bit of love that you have for yourself. Let that feeling spread through your whole body.
You have made an agreement to be here in this body at this time. Why? It doesn’t matter that you don’t know right now.  A big part of the journey of life is to discover why you are here now, and it is a saga that unfolds one moment at a time, for all the years of your human existence.

The second part is to learn that you can affect what you experience and change it to better suit your preferences, if you are willing to allow the present moment and establish in your mind what would be your vision of something better without moaning about what is now.  Meditation is your moment to learn to see that other reality. Meditation is the time to turn loose of all the upsets, angers, blame, shame, regrets, and unfairness of what you have known, and the inhumanity of all around you. Yes, all that is there, but the choice to be upset about it belongs to you.  Turn it loose, Let God worry about all that for now!
